Scheme 33, also known as Gulzar-e-Hijri, is one of the fastest-growing area in Karachi. Once co-owned and managed by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and the Board of Revenue, the area is located near the super-highway. It is an affordable housing option in Karachi, especially when compared to other societies in the city.
Earlier this week Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) blacklisted a vast number of housing societies within scheme 33, which were dealing illegitimately.
The builders did not follow the rules and regulations imposed by the authorities and concerned departments.

What does it mean for Investors?
We recommend to look for other societies in Scheme 33 other than the 40 mentioned.
It is better to not invest your hard earned money in questionable societies. However, in case you choose to invest in one of the mentioned societies or have already invested, we encourage you to do more due diligence to better understand builder’s plan of action to resolve the issues with government and regulators to get the right approvals.
